Name: James Norrington
Rank: Admiral
Age: mid to late 30's
Gender: Male
Personality: Norrington's personality at first seems very rigid and noble, perhaps even slightly snobbish, but it is later apparent he is a much more compassionate man, who learns to better discern what is lawful from what is truly right. He is also one of the few that put others needs and hs duty before his own goals and needs.
On another note he is in actuality a kind and compassionate man in his own right, should anyone take the time to break through the cold, rigid persona that has taken over now that Elizabeth, the one woman he would have given his own life for to ensure her happiness, is happily married to Will.
Physical Description: Fairly tall and lithe, though fairly well-toned from previous endeavors. He has long dark bron hair that was once nearly always hidden by a white powdered wig, a symbol of power and status at the time, now he usually wears it in a ribbon, sans wig. Most notable though are his yellow/green that most resemble jade.
History: Norrington is first introduced as a Lieutenant on the Dauntless as it makes the crossing from England. Over the eight years that follow he becomes an established figure in Port Royal, and is promoted to Captain. He is about to be promoted yet again, from Captain to Commodore, and consequently he wants to marry the Governor's beautiful daughter, Elizabeth Swann, both because a wife is the only thing his enviable life is missing, and because he truly loves Elizabeth, having known her since childhood. However, Elizabeth is in love with Will Turner, a common, yet handsome and charming blacksmith. Norrington at first openly doesn't want her to be with Will Turner (creating something of a rivalry between the two), but later on helps them and Captain Jack Sparrow in their fight against Captain Barbossa´s evil cursed pirates and accepts Elizabeth´s decision to be with Will with dignity and grace.
Norrington resurfaces in Tortuga (though he was to be arrested by Lord Cuttler at the beginning), applying for a spot on the Black Pearl. It is said that he pursued Captain Sparrow sometime between the films and became victim to a violent hurricane, and, through that and subsequent unfortunate events, lost his position as Commodore and his honor. He returns as a very ragged, drunken and untamed character, with ruined clothes and unruly hair. His personality has become much colder, as he intends only to regain his honor and get vengeance on Jack Sparrow (and subsequently Will Turner), who he believes ruined his life.
Norrington becomes involved in a large swashbuckling battle between Will Turner, Jack Sparrow and himself, in a bid to capture the Heart of Davy Jones. After Jack eventually obtains the heart and escapes to his longboat he becomes caught up in a fight with one of Davy Jones' crewmen. It is during this time that Norrington steals the heart from Jack's jar of dirt and feigns a sacrifice, pretending to divert Davy Jones' crewmen's attention (to save Jack, Will and co.) with an empty chest, when he actually is attempting to escape with the heart.
Norrington is afterwards shown in a scene featuring him and Lord Cutler Beckett, trying to bargain his career, honor and life back. He pulls out a small brown sack and tosses it on the table, claiming it to be something much better than Jack Sparrow's compass, the invaluble heart of Davy Jhones.
Strengths: Morals, Beliefs, his strong will, his sense of right and wrong (which seems slowly to be erroding at times), his skill as former a navigator and ccommander as an admiral in the British Royal Navy.
Weaknessess: Moral gray areas, anything dealing with Elizabeth
Other: N/A
