Name: Elvira Catalina Vasquilez
Rank: N/A
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Personality: Elvira has a vague and mysterious personality. She plays a good girl, yet she's dark and has a spicy personality. She plays with multiple personalities and gives diplomatic answers. She is emotionally well constituted and determined. Elvira doesn't give up for just anyone, and she's not easily bent by anyone. she has a determination to be better than everyone, at everything. She honestly should have been born a boy. She's got the willpower and the drive to do anything. She's never doubted herself before. Her role model is Isabella of Spain.
However her diplomatic good side is, her wild party-loving side is almost the opposite. She's always up for a good dance or a good meal with twelve courses. This side of her is flirty and wild with a Spanish Flair.
Physical Description: Elvira has golden tanned skin from the Southern Spanish sun, even though it's quite unpopular at the time. Her coal-like eyes are often blocked by strands of messy black hair. She's petite with an atheletic build. As was common of the time, her teeth aren't very good. Her front ones are pretty okay, because she tries to keep them looking white, but one of her back ones rotted away and had to be pulled.
History:
Elvira was born to a wealthy Spanish family. Her father was appointed to the rank of Ambassador when she was young. Elvira's elder brother Ferdinand was much better schooled than her, and she was terribly jealous, so she begged him to teach her to read and write better. All she could read was the bible.
Her childhood was fairly happy. At her family's summer home, she and her brother would run out into the feilds with sticks and pretend to be knights. Of course this was entirely not proper for the Ambassador's daughter acting like a barbarian, so her mother locked her in her room. In this time, Firdinand brought her books, paper and ink for her to try and teach herself.
When she was fifteen, the smallpox broke out. Her mother, and brother were both killed. Elvira and her father, having survived smallpox at an earlier time were devastated and alone. Her father desperately married Elvira to a wealthy courtier. Unfortunately, he too was taken by the dreaded smallpox. Elvira was a widow, and she had only been married for a few days.
Instead of trying to betroth her again, her father took her to their summer estate, where she lived for the rest of her time in Spain. When Elvira was 19, her father was called to make a voyage to the English colonies in the Caribbean to negotiate a right of passage. Elvira, desperate to come along, begged her father to take her with him, just this once. He must have known that there was nothing left for her in Spain but bad memories, so he agreed.
Overjoyed, Elvira packed for the voyage, but the voyage was twice as bad as she expected. She was seasick for the first few weeks. After that she stayed in her private bunk and read some of the precious books that had once belonged to her beloved brother. There was little light in the bunkroom, and Elvira's sight began to get bad from reading in the dark.
Tragedy struck her again. Her father became violently ill with a strange disease. One of the crewmates said he had been bitten by a rat. Rats carried disease, and now her father was near dying. Clutching rosary beads, Elvira prayed for hours on end. Sometimes she turned blue from the cold. Despite her prayers, her father died.
Desparate that her long journey not be in vain. Elvira seized his papers and began to study them as if she were the ambassador. She now regarded herself as the representative of her late father Alfonso Vasquilez. Her fathers assistants were a bumbling mass of men who would rather bicker and argue than try and think logically.
Elvira spent her 20th birthday one the water, and is arriving in Port Royal in my first post...
Strengths: Elvira is diplomatic and determined. She's never backed down from anything. She's hard core and religious, but she knows when to be soft and understanding. Sometimes she's just too smart for her own good, and her memory is outstanding. She also knows how to use words to manipulate and twist. She only uses this power in desparate situations.
Weaknessess: Sometimes Elvira doesnt' know her place. She tries to step in and do a man's job. She sometimes gets carried away flirting or talking if she's at a party. She sometimes has a tendancy to blow up if angered too much. Some have rumored that she may omeday convert to piracy, and who knows maybe she might... People have also regarded her as a witch or a spinster.
Other: Nothing really...
